With cash drying up and consumers wary of spending, the country’s largest retailers are figuring out innovative ways to drive footfalls. After Future Group’s Big Bazaar allowed customers to withdraw cash by swiping their debit cards at its stores, others are gearing up to join the queue.
While multiplex chain Inox Leisure has started the facility from Friday , others such as Tata’s Star Bazaar and Shoppers Stop are likely to allow people to withdraw cash from its stores soon.
Siddharth Jain, director of Inox Leisure, told TOI that the 446-screen multiplex chain has worked on its back-end to make the cash withdrawal facility available to people.”Around 1.5-2 lakh people walk into Inox multiplexes every day ,” he said. “By Friday, 17 Inox properties will have this facility. Over the weekend, we will roll it out across rest of our 89 properties.” Inox operates 113 multiplexes spread over 57 cities in India.
